LTC News highlights how ieso’s recent research study benefits diabetes patients with depression
LTC News have published a spotlight article on ieso’s latest study results. This comes a week after the announcement that the research study, conducted with support from Roche Diabetes Care Limited, shows online cognitive behavioural therapy benefits diabetes patients living with depression.
Patients who received online cognitive behavioural therapy, tailored for patients with Type 2 diabetes, reported improvements in depression and anxiety, which also led to better management of their diabetes diagnosis. Therefore, integrated mental health care in diabetes patients can significantly improve mental health outcomes, increase patient engagement in managing their condition, reduce distress levels about their diabetes, and better their quality of life.
It is estimated that comorbid physical and mental health conditions increase physical health care costs by 45% to 75%. Tailored interventions, however, are associated with substantial savings in health care costs, and continued advances in diabetes treatment, including addressing comorbidities like depression, will be of great benefit to patients.
